Hello, I am a squished basket. This often happens in transport as I am the last basket of a row, at the bottom of a stack, squished into a corner or have a lot of weight on me. I am still perfectly beautiful and functional. Love me as I am, or you are welcome to soak me in boiling water (I am fully waterproof) then stuff with towels to try bounce me back into shape a bit. Sometimes this works well or I may be quite stubborn as I have been squished for a whole month travelling to Australia from Myanmar. In my particular case, I am only mildly squished, I look like I have a bubble butt around my base. I hope you can appreciate my wonkiness as unique :)
Large Passionfruit baskets are great for larger grocery shops, fresh produce, picnics, BBQs, and beach days. We also call Large Passionfruits our "teacher's basket," as they are perfect for a laptop and paperwork. They can hold up to 12kg.
Approximate size: L: 38cm W: 23cm H: 33cm H:(w handle) 46cm
*Please note: there may be a slight variation (up to 2cm per dimension) as each basket is individually handwoven.
Each Pāli basket is individually handwoven in a remote village in Myanmar, from new pallet strapping made from recycled plastics. Plastics are collected by locals from streets and beaches, recycled into pellets, then made into rolls of new strapping.
Our Passionfruit style uses bamboo in the base and rattan in the handles, purchased from local farmers.
The traditional Burmese weaving techniques have been passed down through generations. Every basket sold enables our ongoing support of the artisans, village families and local Burmese communities.
All baskets are fully recyclable at the end of their very long lives, please contact us for more information.
