Throw 2
Hello, I am a hand-embroidered cotton throw from Chin state in Myanmar.
Crafted by hand from natural cotton fibres, each throw is dyed using indigo and other plant-based dyes. The process takes a meticulous eight weeks: four weeks to weave the fabric on the loom, followed by another four weeks to embroider the intricate designs.
Approximate size: L 157.5cm x W 98.5cm
These throws, featuring scenes of people, animals, landscapes, and homes, beautifully tell the story of the village where they are created. Each piece is one-of-a-kind, with unique imperfections—such as subtle dye marks, fabric pulls, or gathered fibres—that enhance its character and charm.
Whether displayed as artful wall hangings or draped over a couch or bed, these throws bring warmth and storytelling into any space.
The weaving of these exquisite pieces provides a vital source of income for approximately 200 skilled female artisans, supporting their craft and community.
Kindly Note: Flash photography has been use to capture the detail in the throws, the colours are most accurately depicted in the first and second photo.
