We are an ethical brand dedicated to contributing to society in a responsible, positive, and sustainable way. Through dealing directly with our villages in Myanmar we are supporting the community and lifestyle of its villagers. All of our products are individually handmade and our weavers work in the comfort of their own homes. We pay the weavers a fair price for their work, determined by weavers and the head of the village. Money is distributed fairly throughout the community and contributes to school supplies, roads and infrastructure and general living costs.
Each basket is designed for longevity: sturdy, waterproof and weatherproof.
Baskets are woven from reused pallet strapping and recycled plastic.
Discarded pallet strapping is collected off the streets, often waste from factories or transport and packing industries. This strapping is layered to create strength in the baskets and also used for joining handles and bases on Passionfruit baskets. Clean, colourful strapping is made from recycled plastic bottles and other plastics collected from gutters, streets and beaches. This not only helps clean up the environment, but provides a small income for collectors.
Market baskets are fully recyclable at the end of its life, and Passionfruit baskets are recyclable when handles and bases (bamboo and rattan) are removed. We compensate shipping for baskets to be returned to be recycled correctly. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
We use Sendle for shipping and deliveries, a 100% Carbon Neutral company, believing that courier and sending shouldn't have to cost the earth. Sendle has partnered with South Pole Group to offset the emissions of every parcel that is picked up and delivered with Sendle. Each year, they offset carbon emissions through planting trees which helps preserve the habitat of endangered native species. Other projects help reduce emissions of greenhouse gases around the world. For more information on Sendle's projects.
We use only 100% recycled boxes for shipping and urge our customers to further recycle these boxes.
